DeCuerdas Eskrima is one of the deadliest close in blade fighting systems in the world. The true system was kept secret and handed down family to family.
The late Grandmaster Tenio openly taught a mixture of 19 Eskrima systems keeping the core of the teachings secret. Tenio passed down the true teachings to Master Van Donk who is now revealing them in a step by step, level by level teaching format that is both a direct how to instruction and also in a dojo setting the art of DeCuerdas Eskrima. Now available as an Eskrima Home Study Course which encompasses levels Levels 1-4 of the 7 levels of our art. Study through Level 4 will give you a Blackbelt. Normally in the past before about 1984 FMA did not give belt style rankings and only titles by your master to signify your ability to others in the family. GrandMaster Tenio broke that tradition when he gave Richard Van Donk his blackbelt back then. So he has decided to continue what his teacher did with him.

has agreed to host a

2 or 3 day Eskrima Event in Northern California - October 18-19th, 2008.

This will be the last event that the GM teaches DeCuerdas Eskrima publicly for several years.

After this event the GrandMaster focus will shift to the healing and spiritual arts for the next 4 years. He will continue to teach his personal students and in private sessions.

This will be a rare event as we will cover the the system A-Z. Plus much more that will not be ever shown to the general public.

Roman Marquez of Nevada is granted level 5

Guro status!

During a private one-on-one session with GM Richard Van Donk in the Bushindo University Dojo Roman worked for 2 solid days demostrating his Eskrima skills and being trained in the deeper aspects of the art. He was tested by both Mr. and Mrs. Van Donk and was granted Level Five certification- Black/Red Belt and the title Guro (teacher). This is a very high accomplishment as only 2 others have reached this level in Dynamic DeCuerdas Eskrima.

ESKRIMADORS ARE JOINING US-

Students are joining around the world with the Dynamic DeCuerdas Eskrima Blackbelt 10 DVD distant learning course.

Guro Roman Marquez has reached the black/red belt Level 5 status. Becky Norton, Kit Kuittinen, and Wes Shreve have reached the Blackbelt level. Jamie Daiken, Ron Elges, Chitanya,Brent Patterson, Michael Aalto and Mike Piazza are getting pretty close. (How come some students train so hard to brown belt and then slack off towards Blackbelt?)

Only Linda Van Donk (Level 6) and Ken Balanon (Level 5) and Roman Marquez (Level 5) have achieved certified Instructor levels in DeCuerdas Eskrima. Guro Linda studied under GrandMaster Tenio and GrandMaster Van Donk. She is now mostly retired and remaind a director of training. Guro Balanon trained under GrandMaster Van Donk for 9 years while in Santa Cruz and attended 2 seminars of GrandMaster Tenio's.

Our Dynamic DeCuerdas System Goal is to have at least 5 people reach Level 5 - 2 to reach Level 6 and one to reach Level 7. The person to be granted Level 7 may not have even started yet.

We are NOT in a hurry! And ONLY truly dedicated students will reach this level.
